WHY CHOOSE ALDEN MARCH BIOETHICS INSTITUTE?

Alden March Bioethics Institute is a leader in bioethics research, and in putting that research to use in the ethical practice of the life sciences and medicine. Its Master of Science in Bioethics is distinct from any other in the world, in several ways:

Our Technology
Our online programs will easily integrate into your busy schedule because we use the latest educational technologies. Working with Apple, Inc., we've adopted iTunes University, which will give you supplementary materials Sheila_Otto_Professor at Alden March Bioethics Institute of Albany Medical Collegealongside what you read. And because iTunes University uses Apple's iTunes, it works on any computer. Your iPod, included with your enrollment, becomes a constantly updated resource for debate, discussions, films, and cases. Unlike other graduate programs in bioethics, we provide thousands of hours of this material, ranging from case studies to weekly updates on bioethics.

In the traditional classroom, students take notes and tape lectures from 30 yards away and talk with your colleagues, and commute back and forth to the classroom.

In our classes, you can watch the lectures , discuss matters of importance with faculty any time you want by online discussion board, and come to the faculty office to visit the professor, during Online office Hours without leaving your computer.

Our Faculty
Our faculty offer coursework that proceeds directly from their own research interests, and in most courses do so in teams of faculty. Alden March Bioethics Institute faculty, trained in medicine, public health, law, social work, philosophy, public policy, religion, and science, have published recently, articles in scholarly journals of bioethics, law, medical and science, and more than three dozen books. Bonnie Steinbock Professor at Alden March Bioethics Institute of Albany Medical College

Professor Bonnie Steinbock, one of the world's leading scholars in reproductive ethics and an award-winning teacher is just an example of our AMBI faculty. Professor Steinbock is what AMBI is all about, students having access to faculty who are nationally recognized for their work within bioethics. Her classes are an engaging interaction between professionals worldwide that would be impossible to assemble in one classroom.

Our faculty edit journals, book series, and have skills and experience in clinical ethics consultation. They have participated in thousands of ethics consults in New York hospitals, and coordinate a new benchside ethics consultation service for scientists facing ethical issues in the lab or clinic. Faculty at AMBI bring forth opportunity for students to collaborate in innovative, federally- and foundation-funded bioethics research.

Our programs offer students the opportunity to select a mentor to guide in their Masters thesis Mentors will provide not just advice but information and learning materials that are specific towards your interest’s. Moreover, our programs have more access to mentoring because our technologies allow online office hours and ways to reach us via phone, chat room, email and much more.

Our Curriculum
Our programs provide unique opportunities for students through its newly revised and reinvigorated curricula. Our graduate program in bioethics focuses upon cutting-edge research areas in bioethics, for example, offering courses on reproductive ethics, law and policy and methods for putting bioethics to use in research in the social and natural sciences and law. We'll be happy to talk with you about our curriculum and how it can meet your needs - or to direct you elsewhere if we cannot!

Our students are interesting, accomplished, and motivated. Our online educational format allows for our program to have both nation-wide as well as international student populations. Students who matriculate in AMBI's programs will likely find colleagues from Asia, Canada, Europe and around the world joining them in a global discussion of bioethics.
